Although, I must confess... I was kind of hoping to try S.'s "Coq au Vin" as the Rooster's existence was on shaky ground (until the SPCA retrieved him) - shucky darn!!! ;0)) I still might have to try and make this some Sunday afternoon - I'll use a fresh chicken instead of some crazy cock.

And... one of my oldest friends from my North Carolina days will be flying in on Tuesday, February 19th and staying with us until Sunday, February 24th. I'm totally super-cray-cray-excited, for a couple of reasons. One of the biggest is (mostly) because I haven't seen her since the end of 2009, right before we moved to Germany. I can't possibly tell you how wonderful and supportive she was with helping me pack AND to get the house into shape for our new tenants (we opted to use the property for a rental instead of selling). This is also her first trip to The Big Easy - and she'll be coming after all the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras madness is over, and the weather should be beautiful. We've started a list of all the "to-do" stuff she wants to see during this trip. This is what is on the agenda thus far:
- The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas
- Shopping on Magazine Street
- Eating dinner one night at K-Paul's Restaurant
- Browsing art galleries on Royal Street
- The Insectarium
- Jackson Square and The Cathedral
- And for lunch one afternoon, The Napoleon House
- For her last evening here, we will be inviting friends over for a BBQ and drinks...
We'll be walking a lot and using the Canal Street Ferry (which is free for pedestrians and only $1.00 charge per car - one way). For anyone who is coming to visit, I would suggest taking the ferry (round-trip, during the day - simply walking) for the fantastic views and picture opportunities. The ferry leaves every half-hour, so you can do the trip within an hour or less (depending on if you want to explore some of the architecture in Old Algiers Point).
I can't wait to show her all the really cool sights!!!
^^ The welcome sign into The Point
I will more than likely be updating this blog with plenty of pictures during our whirlwind adventure visit!!
